About

My Choreography is a spiritual practice for the divine feminine to communicate through my work.

Investigating life’s nuances through the multiplex lens of the feminine narrative, Madeleine is curious about creating multi-dimensional work that floats effortlessly between social commentary and the metaphysical alike; specifically in relationship to myth, theology and collective culture. Madeleine Twyman is a Canadian Dancer, Choreographer and Educator, Artistic Director of The Blue Institute, co-founder of The Durham School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and a single Mother of two.

Madeleine was commissioned by DanceOntario to create She of Ten Thousand Names, which had its world premiere at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, Jan 27th, 2024. Madeleine’s work ‘The Feminine Other’, was presented by Alexandra Wells and Peter Chu in Orlando, Florida for Open Doors North America, July 2023. Madeleine was selected by The National Ballet of Canada for a 2023 Open Space Residency. Madeleine’s latest work ‘SOTTN’ (April 2023) was presented by The Canadian Opera Company at The Four Seasons Centre for The Performing Arts in Toronto.
